Mandazi

Mandazis have been for a long time been  a part of our Kenyan breakfast and a favorite snack to many. it is affordable, not too big (can fit in an average pocket without raising any eye brows) and is sweet. how ever, when you will hate badly made mandazis.

At Khweza we make sure that the quality of our Mandazis is top notch. Here is our recipe...

INGREDIENTS;
  • 2 Cups All purpose flour
  • 1 egg well beaten
  • 1/4 cup sugar(can be adjusted)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 Tbsp Butter
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon/Ginger/Cardamon
  •  



  • DIRECTIONS;
  1. Combine Flour,Baking powder, Cinnamon/Ginger/Cardamon and Sugar
  2. Rub in butter with the mixture(either use butter at room temp or preferably melt in the microwave for 30secs)
  3. Add the beaten egg
  4. Add the milk while mixing the dough
  5. Roll out the dough into an inch thickness and cut into triangular /Square shapes
  6. Deep the cut slices in oil till golden brown
  7. Serve with a hot cup of tea/ coffee/ cocoa!
